PRANAM 2-DAY IMMERSION Reverential Salutations - All Levels
PRANAM WORKSHOP: Feb 26 - 27, 2026
Pranam is a reverential salutation common to all the arts of India; including yoga, martial arts and dance. Inspired initially by Odissi, for decades Colleena has been exploring this theme of Pranam which she presents as the very crux of Indian classical dance when viewed as a Yogic practice.
Enter the space where our bodies become a site for the sacred…. Discover what movements want to come through your body as you explore the sacred storytelling through - prostrations, salutations and gestures of reverence. This is space where we lean into ritual, repetition, trance and all things sacred.
In a Pranam workshop references to history, cultural context and tradition of Pranam from Sanskrit sources are discussed, as well as exploring a choreographed Pranam inspired by Indian aesthetic. Students will learn choreography and co-create ritual movement. Through guided exploration, dramaturgy / score development and manipulation of the motifs presented we will culminate in an imaginative co-creation!
All Levels welcome! Technique can be modified according to one’s capacity.
